Cochrane is a town about 10 to 15 minutes to the North West of Calgary on Highway 1A.  With the town centre situated in a valley and on the banks of the Bow River, and with the communities such as Gleneagles, Bow Meadows and Bow Ridge spreading out and up the hills giving some of the most stunning views of the Rocky mountains to be seen anywhere.  Cochrane has the best of both worlds - closeness to Calgary for work and city ammenities plus small town living and easy access to the Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park.

The town started off as a small hamlet just over 100 years ago and has grown into a large town with a population approaching 15,000 people.  Cochrane is steeped in history and the High Street reminds you of times gone by and the western heritage that the locals are so proud of.  Cochrane has a vibrant tourist trade but also has many other industries and services employing the locals.

As with any other town of this size Cochrane is very family orientated and there are several schools, leisure facilities and plenty of open spaces and parks for those that like the active/outdoor life.  The town centre is a thriving retail and commercial complex.

Cochrane has two golf clubs. One is the Cochrane Golf Club in the community of Riverview (not far from the town centre and on the banks of the Bow River) and the other is Gleneagles Golf Course in the community of Gleneagles (up the hill from the town centre and with stunning views of the Rockies).

If small town living with a 'Western feel' and closeness to the mountains and city are important to you then Cochrane may be the place to call 'home'.
