Black Diamond is a small rural town located just over 50 kms south of the city of Calgary on Highway 22 (also known as the Cowboy Trail). With a real authentic western look to the high street you can almost imagine cowboys riding into town on horseback!
If rural life is 'your thing' this is the place to be. There is a slower pace to life in this town than will be found in many of the other towns closer to Calgary. With the booming house prices in and around Calgary Black Diamond offers fantastic value for money for those who want to live and work in a rural community, or even those who are prepared to travel for work in Calgary.
Black Diamond offers a range of housing from older properties close to the town centre to newer properties on the outskirts of town. Although the town is small and the facilities limited it is only about a 10 to 15 minute drive to the town of Okotoks and about 30 to 40 minutes from Calgary.
Within the town are several schools, a seniors complex and the Oilfields General Hospital. Along the high street are various quaint shops which not only cater for the locals but also the growing tourist market who travel along The Cowboy Trail.
Black Diamond is only a few kilometres east of another small town called Turner Valley and between the two towns is a pleasant country walk that follows Highway 22 and the Sheep River.
